Christmas Eve Declared a Public Holiday

restrukturyzacja

On December 24, 2024, the President of Poland signed the Act of December 6, 2024, amending the law on public holidays and certain other laws. The Act establishes December 24 – Christmas Eve – as a public holiday.

At the same time, changes will be introduced to the Act of January 10, 2018, on the restriction of trade on Sundays and public holidays. These changes stipulate that the ban on trade will not apply to the three Sundays preceding Christmas Eve. However, even though these three Sundays will be exempt from the trade ban, an employee or worker may engage in trade-related work during this period on no more than two of these Sundays.

The Act also includes amendments to the Labor Code and the Penal Code.

The new regulations will come into force on February 1, 2025.
